San Diego: David Greig

Synopsis:

San Diego weaves together a series of connecting and diverging stories, merging threads that stretch around the globe into a single compelling narrative of tremendous scope; stories of illegal immigrants, of pilots, film stars and whores, of the making of Band on the Run and of the playwright himself.

Inspired by playwright David Greig’s first visit to America, it is a surreal, comic and strangely resonant play. With a cast of eleven and a multitude of characters, it offers a weird, wonderful and occasionally nightmarish journey of discovery into the heart of the American dream and our universal longing for a sense of home and community.

Presented by the Tron Theatre Company in a co-production with the Edinburgh International Festival, San Diego first appeared at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, in August 2003.
